The Rutgers Digital Ethnography Working Group

The Rutgers Digital Ethnography Working Group (DEWG) uncovers deeper understandings of how people live in this digital era by using the most innovative methods to study digital communication, information, and media firsthand. We develop principles, practices, and ethics of digital ethnography to make sense of how people live today, including born-digital strategies and innovative, multimodal methods of doing fieldwork.

We support active digital ethnographers and researchers at the Rutgers School of Communication and Information and beyond by promoting member output and networking; ; developing resources and ethnographic skills; organizing workshops, trainings, and writing groups; and hosting public events.
